It is our job as veterinarians to recognize signs of animal abuse, cruelty or neglect and understand our rights and responsibilities in how to report suspicion and who to contact when we have concerns. Through an overview of veterinary forensic medicine, updates on the field and several case examples this webinar will address topics not often accessible in primary veterinary education.

Dr. Emmy Ferrell is a second year shelter medicine resident at Oregon Humane Society pursuing a career with a focus on veterinary forensic medicine. She is originally from Pompano Beach, Florida; however, she spent several years in Gainesville where she graduated from the University of Florida’s College of Veterinary Medicine and completed a master’s degree in veterinary forensic science.
She went on to an internship in shelter medicine at Oregon Humane Society in Portland, Oregon, where she is now continuing her shelter medicine residency and handling cases of animal abuse, cruelty and neglect.
