Summary

The first part of this hour long webinar will go over some of Dr. Liz’s (a crazy cat doctor) “diagnostic hacks” in working through a hematuric cat case to get to a confirmed diagnosis. The second part of this CE will focus on feline idiopathic cystitis. The goal of this second part will be to appreciate the rolls that anxiety and the brain plays in FIC (so maybe we can take the “idiopathic” out of the cystitis) and a review of current treatment options.

Dr. Liz always wanted to be a veterinarian. In her childhood dreams, she wanted to be a horse doctor. Having always grown up with cats (not horses), they have been an integral part of her life. A native Calgarian, Dr. Liz’s academic career began with a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Calgary. As the path of life is always interesting, Dr. Liz studied at the University of Veterinary Medicine, in Kosice, Slovakia. She graduated, with great distinction, in 2005 as a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine. After graduation, she "fell" into cat medicine as a new graduate and never left. After spending three years practicing at one of Calgary’s few cat-only clinics. Her desire to face new challenges, while continuing her love for feline medicine, led Dr. Liz to take the helm of Wild Rose Cat Clinic in 2009. In December 2012 Dr. Liz succeeded in her pursuit of board certification in feline medicine, joining one of six across Canada.
