Obesity is increasingly common in companion dogs and cats. More than benign adipose tissue deposition, obesity exacerbates numerous disease processes and can negatively impact pets’ quality and length of life. This presentation will outline implementation of weight loss plans, and includes tips for improving owner compliance and strategies for obesity prevention.

Dr Rachel Kurzbard

MS, DVM

Small Animal Clinical Nutrition Clinician with strong interests in communication, owner education, and the human-animal bond. Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Western University of Health Sciences, College of Veterinary Medicine. Masters in Animal Biology with focus on nutrition and immunity from University of California, Davi. She enjoys working on cases with multiple concurrent conditions, assisted feeding plans, critical care nutrition, and weight loss plans.
