Summary

My presentation is going to cover some basic fundamentals of nutrition such as; the importance and relevance of nutrition in companion animal hospitals, reviewing the basic math skills to calculate daily caloric intake for companion animals, the various life stage factors of companion animals and application of these skills in a hospital setting. As well as utilizing licensed technicians for client communication for achieving nutritional goals and increasing owner compliance.

My name is Tiffany Barraza, I am an RVT and have my VTS in Nutrition. I have been in the veterinary field for the last 15 years. I am currently a college instructor and work at a specialty emergency hospital. I have a well rounded career in the veterinary field having worked in; an animal shelter, a mobile equine veterinary hospital, low cost spay and neuter clinics and emergency hospitals. I am a part of the Academy of Veterinary Nutrition Technicians and have a plethora of pets at home consisting of cats, dogs, and reptiles.
